Extension Update

26 Feb 2010 - John Burns

In these economic times, we are very fortunate to have our extension under construction. Our new two storey extension consisting of 8 new classrooms, G.P. Room, Special Education Rooms, store rooms, offices, etc. is taking great shape.
I have to acknowledge the excellent work of our Contractor, M.Fitzgibbon (Builders) Ltd. and his team of workers under the watchful eye of site Manager, Michael Moroney.
After 4 months, the following work has been completed despite the most inclement weather conditions on record:
• Site Setup 100%
• Reduce ground 100%
• Diversion of existing services 80%
• Foundations to classroom block 100%
• Lift shaft pit 100%
• Rising walls to classrooms 100%
• Concrete columns to classroom block 100%
• Substructure pipe work to classroom block 100%
• Safety inductions carried out with pupils 30-11-2009
• Radon Barrier to classroom block 100%
• Ground floor to classroom block 100%
• Block work 1st lift in classroom block 100%
• Concrete beams at 1st floor 100%
• Works to new library and staff room 70%
• Foundations to G.P. Area 100%
• Steel structure to G.P. Area 100%
• Rising walls G.P. Area 100%
• Radon Barrier to G.P. Area 100%
• Precast concrete floors 50%
• Concrete screed to 1st Floor 50%

As we witness and observe history unfold in our school and Parish with the construction of our new two storey national school, we wish M.Fitzgibbon (Builders) Ltd. continued success with their work.
