    LITTER

    Litter goes in the bin
    not on the ground,
    nearly everywhere
    you look litter is around.

    It ruins our credibility
    as a Tourist Nation
    and destroys the beauty,
    of our Lords creation.

    To keep things neat and
tidy up is really no exertion,
ater on in years to comes
    it could be our salvation.

    So in keeping Ireland litter
    free, we are protecting our
    ecology and will not owe
the children of future years an apology.

    Aisling Quinlan

Hi! My name is Loretta. I'm a dolphin who was rescued from the polluted coast of Florida. I used to live there but now I live here at the Florida Marine Centre. This is my story.........

One glorious day I was swimming around with my Mother when suddenly we heard a strange noise. It sounded like it was coming from the surface. My Mother sensed danger so she brought me over to a small cave-like opening. The noise was getting closer and closer.

Out of the blue, we both heard a loud boom and the seabed shuddered. My Mother swam out to see what the load boom had been. I swam after her because I was very scared and did not want to be left alone, by myself. There in front of us was a strange liquid leaking out of the containers. My Mother swam closer to get a better look. As she swam back she seemed to ba a little weaker than before.

Over the next few days my Mother seemed to be getting weaker and weaker. She didn't want to play with me and seemed to be tired all the time. One day when I came home from playing alone, I found my Mother lying there, motionless. I swam over to beside her. I was frightened, for I did not hear her strong, pounding heartbeat.

Over the new few days I didn't feel much like eating or playing. I was starting to feel weaker amd weaker everyday.

A few days later a small boat came sailing over the surface and dropped out some nets. The next thing I knew they surrounded me. I was dragged into the boat and then all I remember after that was waking up here in the Marine Centre.

So that is my story. Just remember that something like dumping chemical waste into the ocean can have a huge affect on the Earth.
