Yrväder from Kristianstad in Skane, Sweden came to visit Barefield NS in April 2013. This was their fourth visit to County Clare since 2006.
The idea behind the partnership is to provide Swedish and Irish musicians with the opportunities to showcase their talents and reward them for their dedication to their chosen art. The visits to Sweden have been hugely important to 60 young Clare musicians over the years of this project.
Per Nord and Susan Enochsson have been the spiritual heart of Yrväder since 2006 and they brought a range of instrumentalists with them that included saxophones, bass, guitar, fiddles, flutes, harps, percussion and keyboard.
The list of Swedish participants is as follows:
Johanna Kier, Johanna Österlind, Harald Åkerberg, Arvid Markoff, Alex Johansson, Sigrid Abrahamsson, Sofia Karlsson, Linnea Jönsson, Ingrid Nilsson, Emma Grönlund, Ellen Falck, Thomas Ringdahl, Per Nord, Susan Enochsson and Lotta Fursen.
The host families included Helen Hanrahan, Anne Marie Meskill and Noreen Hehir.
Denis Liddy was the co-ordinator of the tour and included a visit to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.
This visit was part of The Gathering 2013.
