Rena Queally is a native of the Parish of Doora-
Barefield. Her primary school years were spent in Knockanean N.S. and she attended secondary school in Coláiste Muire, Ennis. Her degree in Education was completed in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick.
Her current interests include traditional Irish music, horse riding, swimming, reading and walking. Her educational interests are in the area of Special Education and Information Technology.
Her first teaching appointment was to St. Tola's School in Shannon, where she held a temporary post before being appointed to Barefield National School in October 2000.
From a very young age, Rena took a keen interest in music, both classical and traditional. The traditional scene brought success in solo performances ( banjo and piano), along with Banna Céilí and Grúpaí Cheoil at county, provincial and All-Ireland level. She has also travelled Europe with the trad group Planxty O'Rourke.
She performed with distinction in Irish dancing, having won many honours on the way to reaching the pinnacle of her dream in winning 3 world medals.
In recent years, Rena has taken up equestrian events, competing and having success at show-jumping events all over the country at amateur level, including 2 wins at the Green Acres Arena in Millstreet. Her most recent interest has been joining St. Joseph's Senior Ladies Football Team.
