We started our project with the aim of generating a sense of local ownership of the airport in the parish of Doora- Barefield. We started by brainstorming for ideas followed by the election of class representatives. We had a meeting to get the views of experts and parents.

We had a school tour to Shannon taking in Foynes Flying Boat Aviation Museum,
Irish Marine Emergency Helicopters-Shannon,
Fire Station-Shannon,
Duty Free,
Met-Office and
Air Traffic Control.
Then we started writing our actual reading material on Shannon and our Art and Craft work.We are now in the process of creating a promotional video and designing a Web-site.
