Last week, Senior Infants took part in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal. The Christmas Shoebox Appeal sends thousands of gift-filled shoeboxes to children in Africa and Eastern Europe. The children who will receive these shoeboxes are affected by poverty in different ways. Many come from families with very little income, others live on the margins of society or in areas affected by conflict. Shoeboxes are given based on need alone and bring joy and excitement to children living in often very difficult situations.

The children in Senior Infants were so excited filling the boxes and bringing in their own personal belongings from home to share with those in need.  It was a very enjoyable week preparing these boxes in Senior Infants.  The children realise how fortunate they are to have Santa Claus arriving at the door every Christmas Eve.
